The Upper West Regional Commander of Prisons, ADP Joseph Miyella, has been pulled out of office in Wa following a successful duty tour.

The impressive ceremony was attended by service commanders, traditional leaders, heads of departments, with the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, as the guest of honour.

Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo reports that ADP Miyella inspected a parade held in his honour under the command of ASP Abdul-Wahab Sulemana.

Dr Hafiz Bin Salih presented a gift to Mr Miyella and commended him for his invaluable contributions to the Upper West Regional Security Council.

The Regional Minister said: “I want it to be on record that for us members of the Regional Security Council [REGSEC], we appreciate the contributions of Mr Joseph Miyella and his exit will create a vacuum in REGSEC and in the affairs of the security architecture of the Upper West Region. On behalf of the people of the Upper West Region, I want to sincerely commend him and wish him well in life in the years out of Ghana Prisons Service.”

ADP Miyella said his achievements as the Regional Commander included reducing overcrowding in the prison through the construction of two additional cells, establishing a rapport with the Narcotics Commission to educate and counsel inmates on drug abuse, and seeking support from an individual to donate two sewing machines to equip the tailoring shop to sew uniforms for officers as well as inmates.

He also expressed gratitude to the Wa Naa, Dr Bin Salih and the Chief of the Fulbes (Fulanis) for their support. ADP Miyella was equally grateful to the Director General of Ghana Prisons Service, Isaac Kofi Adjiri for the honour done him[Mr Miyella] to command the Wa Central Prisons.
