The Kaneshie District Court has refused bail to the man arrested in connection with the murder of Dr. Christopher Adu Boahen, son of late Ghanaian politician, Professor Albert Adu Boahen.

The Court’s decision not to grant bail to the accused Mark Forson was based on the prayer by the Prosecution led by Detective Inspector Isaac Boabeng, who argued that the District Court does not have jurisdiction over bail applications in murder cases.

He also noted that investigations are ongoing and releasing the accused on bail will interfere with it.

According to the facts presented by the Prosecution, the complainant, one Dr. Michael Sergbefia a Surgeon at the Korlebu Teaching Hospital, was a friend to the late Dr Adu Boahen, while the accused Mark Forson is the househelp to the deceased.

The Prosecution said on March 17, 2024 the complainant went to visit his late friend at his home. When he got to the house, he perceived an unusual smell and proceeded to the deceased’s room and found him lying on his bed dead. The complainant immediately proceeded to the East Legon Police Station to lodge a complaint. The police followed up to the crime scene and saw the lifeless body of Dr. Christopher Adu Boahen on his bed with a rope around his neck which suggested foul play.

The body was later conveyed to the Police Hospital Morgue for preservation and autopsy.

On March 19, 2024 the accused was arrested while investigations continued. The Court has adjourned the case to April 15, 2024.
