The 66 Artillery Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces in Ho, the Police CID, Counter Terrorism Unit of the Police Service and Defence Intelligence have conducted joint operations to counter activities of the self-styled ‘Homeland Study Group Foundation’.

On November 16, the group declared independence to cover the Volta, Oti parts of the Northern, North East and Upper East and Upper West regions. This incidence coupled with the unlawful activities of the secessionist group necessitated the conduct of operations to maintain the unity and stability of the country.

The first operation conducted last Saturday saw the arrest of fifteen suspects from three communities, Gbledi Kyebi, Fodome Helu and Kwadzato  in the Hohoe Municipality.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Ghana Armed forces said items retrieved during the operations included Western Togoland branded shirts, flashlights, boots, Police Belts, Flags of Western Togoland, Cheque book and a list containing items needed for training.

Items seized are currently in the custody of the Police for further investigations. The public is hereby advised to be wary of groups or individuals who collect money from them with the promise to train them.

The statement also asked individuals to provide information on activities of the Group to the security agencies for prompt action.
