The nine-member ad-hoc bipartisan parliamentary committee investigating the procurement of Sputnik-V vaccines has ended its public hearings.

Before being discharged, the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu insisted that circumstances prevailing at the time pressurized him into signing contracts for the supply of the vaccines without following all the laid down processes.

The Minister has been accused of sidelining parliament and the public procurement authority in signing an international agreement with an Emirati Sheikh for supply of the vaccines at 19 dollars per dose.

In his closing remarks, Vice Chairman for the Ad hoc committee, Kwabena Minta Akandoh asked the minister to be more engaging with parliament in such dealings.

The Juaboso MP assured the Minister that the probe was neither personal nor a witch-hunting expedition but a genuine move to get answers for Ghanaians.

The chairman of the Committee, Alex Afenyo-Markin also asked the minister to be more engaging with the health committee in some of these dealings. He said that is the surest way to avoid the current situation.
