Residents living in low-lying areas downstream in and around Adabraka, Circle, Odawna among others in the country’s capital are likely to experience flooding this year with the onset of the rains.

This was revealed by the Head of Drains at the Hydrological Services Department under the Works and Housing Ministry, Seth Kudzordzi.

Speaking on preparation being made by his establishment to prevent floods in the Greater Accra region ahead of the rains, he said, several mitigating measures have been implemented to ease flooding with the desilting and construction of major drains under the GAMA project.

It is being funded by the World Bank in upstream areas like, Teshie, Dome and Santa Maria which are flood prone areas.

Some bridges at Rawlings park, Graphic road, Abbosey Okai are however too low and are to be replaced.
