The AME Zion Church, in a statement, has condemned the killing of Assistant Immigration Control Officer, Michael Otu, at Kokoligu, in the Upper West Region.

The church described the incident as unfortunate, saying the late officer who was a member of the church, was a devoted and disciplined Christian.

The AME Zion Church said “as a Christian institution whose values and principles are to spread love and peace in communities, the murder is disturbing especially as the officer was performing his duties to secure Ghana’s borders to keep citizens safe”.

The statement further said the death becomes more worrying as it comes at a time terrorists pose danger to the sub-region.

It adds up that miscreants disguise as armed robbers and perpetuate crimes against citizens.

The Church however encourages Ghanaians not to shield people who engage in heinous crimes and calls on government and other relevant bodies not to relent in their efforts in ensuring that security personnel are protected while at post.
