Ghana launches anti-terrorism campaign as National Security Minister dispels Fear and Panic

Government has launched an anti-terrorism campaign dubbed “See Something Say Something” to seek public support to avert any terrorist attack in the country. A toll-free number has also been announced which is 999 to enable the public to report suspicious activities within their communities as the country seeks to ward off threats of extremists within the sub-region.

The number, 999 will connect to the country’s security agencies to take prompt action on them. Deputy National Security Coordinator, Edward Asomani said in the face of recent developments, Ghana has no option but to stay on top of the issues to protect citizens.

Minister of Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah called on the media,religious leaders among others to come on board ”to ensure that no such attack is recorded in the country”.

Senior Presidential Advisor, Yaw Osafo Maafo, in his remarks noted that ”Ghana’s rich resources positions her as a prime target for terrorist attacks”.

”Government is supporting the Security Agencies in several ways to ensure success in the campaign”

Meanwhile, National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, said the campaign is not to create fear and panic. He said the ”issues of fake news will be checked”.
