C/R: Six arrested for allegedly impersonating National Security operatives

The Agona Swedru District Police Command has arrested six individuals accused of impersonating national security officers and unlawfully entering the premises of S.I Jun Manufacturing Company Limited at Agona Akwakwa, near Mankrong Nkwanta in the Central Region.

In a statement released on Thursday, May 7, the police said the incident took place around 12:00 p.m. on May 6 after they received a distress report indicating that the suspects had arrived at the company in a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GW 8887-V.

The suspects were reportedly dressed in different uniforms, including three in Ghana Immigration Service camouflage uniforms, one in military apparel, and two in civilian clothing. They allegedly identified themselves as National Security operatives and proceeded to intimidate and assault some Chinese nationals at the company’s premises.

“According to the report, three of the suspects were dressed in Ghana Immigration Service camouflage uniforms, one in a military uniform, and the remaining two in mufti. The suspects claimed to be National Security Operatives and were allegedly assaulting and harassing some Chinese nationals at the company’s premises,” part of the statement read.

The six suspects — identified as 32-year-old Agyemang Benjamin, 48-year-old Mahama Iddrisu Dawuda Seidu, 35-year-old Ofori Isaac, 32-year-old Adom Bills, 47-year-old Hayford Boafo, and 48-year-old Ato Mchenry — were arrested at the scene.

They are currently being held at the Agona Swedru District Police Headquarters and are assisting with investigations.

The statement further noted that the Military Police, Ghana Immigration Service and National Security have all been contacted to verify the identities of the suspects.
