After over forty years off the shelves, the Graphic Communications Group, has officially launched the first Ghana Year Book in Accra.

The book chronicles happenings in the past year, with comprehensive information on politics, government institutions, academia, and security among others.

First introduced in the 1950’s by the Graphic Corporation, the Ghana Year Book (GYB) curated all business information about Ghana and was one of the most sought after publications. However, publication ceased with the last edition in the late 1970’s. But after over 40 years, under the inspiration of the current Board, the Ghana year book is back on the shelves never to cease again.

Though the new GYB has improved coverage and content, it maintains the same quality and credibility that endeared its readers back in the day.

The speaker of parliament, Alban Bagbin who was the special guest of honour for the event, said the reintroduction of the year book is commendable and timely considering the importance of credible information to nation building particularly in the 21st century.

This especially so, where social media and the power of false publications abound.

The first book was auctioned at ¢12,000 but the speaker, Mr Alban Bagbin bought his copy at Ghc20,000. Copies are now available in all book shops across the country and online.
