Bimbilla Chieftaincy Dispute: President Akufo-Addo appoints Awomefia of Anlo to lead mediation effort

President Akufo-Addo has in consultation with his advisory council appointed the Awomefia of Anlo, Togbe Sri, to lead mediation effort and subsequent resolution of the Bimbilla chieftaincy dispute.

He has also promised to facilitate the ruling of the Supreme Court verdict and bring fair justice to the appropriate quarters.

Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs and people at Bimbilla in the Nanumba North district of the Northern Region, President Akufo-Addo charged the people to corporate fully with the mediation team in order to bring the chieftaincy dispute to rest.

The durbar was held to round off the two day tour of the President to the Northern, North East and Savannah regions.

The President was accompanied by the Minister of Agric, Dr. Afriyie Akoto Osei, Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako-Attah and Minister of Health, Kweku Agyemang Manu.

The Regent, Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu Andani commended the President for the numerous developments in the area.

He was however worried about some GETFund projects which have been abandoned in the district and pleaded with government to ensure they are completed on time to address the educational challenges faced in the area.

He appealed to the President to take steps to bring timely justice by facilitating the passage of verdict on the Bimbila skin as the family of the late King, Naa Andani Dasana Abdulai awaits justice.

President Akufo-Addo said resolution of the outstanding issue in the Bimbilla Chieftancy dispute is long overdue and government has taken steps to bring finality to the issue.

Earlier, the President cut the sod for upgrading of the deplorable Bimbilla-Salaga stretch which is affecting agriculture and economic activities.

The 71 kilometre stretch which is expected to be completed in 42 months will be handled by New Modern World Company Limited.
