The Bureau of Public Safety has expressed worry about the request by Interior Minister to the IGP to withdraw 200 Police officers from communities to provide security for members of parliament.

In a letter to the President, Executive Director of the Bureau, Nana Yaw Akwada, said following the trend of violence in the last 18 months in the country, there would be further deterioration of public safety and security in Ghana if the Minister of the Interior’s decision is allowed to hold as more citizens are most likely to be exposed to violent crime.

Speaking to GBC’s Radio Ghana, he noted that what should be done for the best interest of all is to improve general security of the masses and revive police visibility and community policing.
