Church service, family time, food and merry making marks Christmas celebration worldwide

Christians across the globe today marked Christmas with church activities and merry-making.

Many Christians after church today continued the celebration with family gatherings. While others went to some restaurants with their family and friends, others were seen at the shopping malls to get gifts for their loved ones.

Some traders were also spotted on the streets of Accra busily making sales.

From Koforidua in the Eastern Region, our correspondent Michael Teye Amartey reports that the day was marked with church service while the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) feted the staff and patients at the Eastern Regional hospital.
At the Wesley Methodist Cathedral, members in their Christmas dresses sang praises to signify their joy for the birth of Christ.
The Koforidua Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Asare- Kusi said Christmas is celebrating the Birth of Christ and Christians should use the occasion to proclaim love to all.
The International Central Gospel Church instead of celebrating the day in the church moved to the regional hospital to celebrate the day with the staff and patients of the hospital to feel part of the yuletide.
The members of the church who were in their church attire served the staff and the clients of the hospital with buffet, indigenous beverages, and fruits.
Those who were on admission and could not come to the party grounds were also served at the ward as well as prayed for.
Head Pastor of Jesus Temple of ICGC, Rev. Dickson Tuffuor Sarpong, said during the festive season while people are enjoying in their various homes those afflicted and on admission are neglected hence the initiative to show love to them to feel part of the occasion.
The Acting Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Cardinal Newton, expressed his appreciation to the church for their gesture which according to him has saved the hospital an amount of more than six thousand Ghana cedis which is used in feeding the staff during such festive seasons.
