Clients of some Ministries and its agencies are stranded following the strike by Civil and Local Government Staff Association, (CLOGSAG). The individuals, most of whom were at the premises of the ministries and their agencies, expressed frustration at their inability to transact business with these agencies, citing a number of consequences.

GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey visited a number of Ministries and reports that the strike by CLOGSAG is in full force.

In typical fashion of a striking atmosphere, all the ministries and agencies visited, including the Registrar General’s Department, Ministry of Roads and Highways among others were virtually empty when GBC News arrived.

One could spot trees at the head office of CLOGSAG draped with red bands.

Almost all vehicles and door handles within the premises of CLOGSAG had red cloth tied to them, with a bold inscription on the door of the main entrance to CLOGSAG announcing the strike, accompanied by a summary of its demands which reads “WE DESERVE BETTER CONDITIONS OF SERVICE NOW, EVERYBODY SHOULD SIT AT HOME, DON’T COME TO WORK”.

GBC News caught up with a lawyer at the Registrar General’s Department who raised some legal concerns the strike will have on smooth transaction of business.

Another client who was unable to renew his business certificate spoke to GBC News.

According to CLOGSAG, the strike will go on until the government responds to its demands.
