Coalition for Social Justice protest meet Police restraint

By Nathaniel Nartey.

The Coalition for Social Justice has accused the Police of unfair treatment in its demonstration.

According to the Group, the Police has been involved in alleged dubious means to prevent them from picketing Parliament House to demonstrate against the E-Levy imposed on Ghanaians in the 2022 Budget.

Leading Member of the Group, Desmond Ntow told Nathaniel Nartey that the Police served them a Restraining Order this morning, despite having satisfied all requirements with the Police, and wondered why the same institution would turn its back on agreements with them.

He said reports of an injunction on the demonstration by the Police on social media affected their numbers. GBC News spoke to him earlier at the Efua Sutherland Park where they converged. He said the protest would go on regardless.

Mr Ntow said the group is for complete scrapping of the E-Levy and would not accept downward review of the 1.75 rate.
