Parliament will resume this morning to continue sitting for its first meeting for the year.

This is according to a release from the office of the Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Quaye.

The House was expected to go on recess on Saturday but the Speaker suspended sittings because most of the businesses which needed to be attended to were not ready.

It is expected that the key among the House order of business as it resumes from suspension will be the presentation of a policy statement on government’s measures to contain the novel coronavirus pandemic by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.

When he last attended to parliament on the issue, Mr. Ofori-Atta announced a one billion Coronavirus Alleviation Programme that will be funded from the Ghana Stabilisation Fund. Another item the House is expected to handle is the vetting by the Appointments Committee of the MP for Ledzokuku, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye as a Deputy Minister of Health.
