The Security Services are calling on Ghanaians to remain calm as they are ready to defend the country from both internal and external aggression.

They manifested this during a vehicle mounted route march through the streets of Sekondi-Takoradi to end Operation Western Shield.

The need to boost the moral and sharpen the skills of personnel of the security services has become paramount in the wake of recent disturbances in some parts of the country and also in readiness for election duties as Ghana goes to the polls in December.

Operation Western Shield was therefore designed to provide insight on tactics, techniques and procedures for election security, crowd management and control, internal security and to test the interoperability of the security services. They also undertook simulation exercises on various scenarios.

The five-day exercise ended with a mounted walk by five hundred personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces and para-military services through the streets of Sekondi-Takoradi to give hope to the people.

It was also to send signals to troublemakers that, their activities will not be allowed to fester. The General Officer Commanding, Southern Ghana Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier-General Abraham Yeboah Nsiah urged the troops to be vigilant so they are not overtaken by events.
