Originally from Denu Hedzranawo, a suburb of the Ketu South Municipality, Emmanuel Amegavi Sosu was born in Accra Newtown on March 19, 1992, to Mr. Dorsu Oko Sosu, a carpenter, and Mrs. Yaa Sorkpa, a trader.

As the last born of the six (6) children of the family, he began his nomadic lifestyle following the relocation of his mother to the Eastern region in a small town called Adawso Ahenkroase, situated within the Akuapen North Municipality.

There, he spent a few of his formative years, starting his kindergarten to class two (2) after which he was brought back to Nima in Accra where his father was residing with his stepmother.

The relocation to Nima interrupted his basic education trajectory. A few years later, a family friend known as Mr. Wilson Sewa, a businessman from Togo on his business trip to Accra proposed to the family to take the young Sosu with him to Togo for his education.

*Educational stay in Togo*

Young Amegavi Sosu was admitted to class two (2) and his brilliance earned him the admiration of his teachers. He went through his basic and secondary academic journeys and graduated in his Advanced Level with the Baccalaureate in Philosophy and Art specializing in linguistics, focusing on French, English, and German.

It’s worthy of note that he usually travels between Lome and Accra very frequently, especially on vacations and midterms, to visit his family; and while in Accra, he always seizes the opportunity to take some special courses in English, German, and Spanish since his ambition has always been to become a diplomat.

As a student with an English background, he was featured in an English Programme on Radio Horizon, a radio station located in the city of Tsevie. He topped his class as the overall best student on several occasions and eventually won several laurels.

At Tsevie Secondary School, he excelled and was eventually elected as the English Club President. He completed his secondary education and returned to Accra in 2011.

*Tertiary Education*

The remarkable tertiary academic journey of Emmanuel Amegavi Sosu could inspire hope and confidence in any tertiary student. From 2012 to 2014, he enrolled in Crystal Galaxy College of Aviation and Professional Studies to pursue a professional Diploma Programme in Aviation (Airfares and Ticketing, Passenger Handling & Profiling, and Customer Service).

As typical of him, he graduated as the overall best-graduating student. He later proceeded to enroll at Christian Service University College in 2019 to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies specializing in Public Relations.

While in the University, he enrolled at the Alliance Française – Kumasi and wrote the Highest European Union French Standard Test ( DELF C2) and passed with flying colors.

*Professional life*

Emmanuel Amegavi Sosu has been involved in a lot of impact-driven projects. In 2015, he founded an organization known as the French For All in Ghana (Français Pour Tous Au Ghana) which aims at promoting French and English bilingualism in Ghana.

The organization has set for itself an ambitious goal termed Agenda 2050-50. Per this agenda the leadership of the organization seeks to make at least 50% of the Ghanaian populace write and speak basic French by the year 2050; owing to the geopolitical and economic nature of the country.

His advocacy through this initiative led him to engage some senior citizens of Ghana including H.E John Agyekum Kufuor, the former President of the Republic of Ghana; Hon. Frank Agyekum, former Minister of information; Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, former Minister of Aviation & Minister of Water and Sanitation; Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adu-Twum the current Education Minister to chart a clear course and influence policy formulation within the educational and economic sectors through the initiative.

He also featured on the France-based  Radio France International (RFI) together with the then Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Eric Kwakye Darfour where they discussed Ghana’s strides in the International Organization of the Francophonie.

He has also served as the Operations Manager for Telmak Limited, a timber processing firm in Kumasi while still studying at Christian Service University College.

Additionally, his passion for volunteerism and service to humanity made him join the Junior Chamber International (JCI) where he served as the General Legal Counsel in JCI Dansoman and subsequently as the Local President in JCI Mccarthy Hill where they carried out a lot of charity projects. He is currently serving as the International Relations Director of the Global Volunteers Corps.

In the 2022-2023 academic year, Emmanuel Amegavi Sosu paired with Evelyn Boateng as his Running mate and contested for the position of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Presidency of the Christian Service University College – Kumasi and won resoundingly with 54.78 % of the total valid votes cast.

Having served as the SRC President, records available indicate that his administration has been transformative as they Initiated and signed an MoU between the Christian Service University and PP Savani University in India to facilitate exchange programmes both from the faculty levels and the student levels of both institutions.

They equally built, to 80% completion, a multi-purpose student arena as their legacy project, among others.

As a National Executive Committee (NEC) member, he was equally elected to serve as NEC’s representative on the vetting committee for the University Students’ Association of Ghana (USAG) and the Private Universities’ Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) in 2023 during the two associations’ electoral processes.

After his 4 years undergraduate programme at the Christian Service University College – Kumasi, he emerged as one of the very few who graduated with First Class Honours at the 47th graduation ceremony recently held.

Generally, the principle of life is that one’s quest for greatness in a journey to success is hinged on the inspiration that guides and motivates him through challenges.

Having therefore explored the wisdom of successful people who have not only achieved greatness but have also left a trail of inspiration for others to follow, it is apparent that Amegavi Sosu’s story will be nothing short of the same.

Emmanuel Amegavi Sosu’s journey, as chronicled in this article, indicates his resilience and determination to succeed. Just as stated by the former First Lady of the United States, Eleanor Roosevelt, “Courage is more exhilarating than fear. Therefore, we are not expected to become heroes overnight.

Just one step at a time, meeting each hurdle that comes up, seeing it not as dreadful as it appeared, knowing that we have the strength to stare it down.” – Amegavi Sosu promises to be a great personality for his family, community, Ghana, and the rest of the world, with so much leadership potential.
