The Ghana Federation of Labour, GFL, has entreated members of Parliament to engage critical Industry players prior to any action on new Taxes.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary Abraham Koomson, the Federation asked members of Parliament to do the needful to halt further deterioration of the conditions of most people to avert social upheavals.

It says in spite of the prevailing financial crunch and the plight of workers under the escalated cost of living as a result of economic policies of the government, Parliament is seen as being complicit in the implementation of outrageous Government policies which threaten to destroy businesses and render many jobless.

The GFL in a petition to the Speaker of Parliament dated February 3 drew attention to the numerous taxes already being paid by distressed businesses and the harm any additional taxes will do to investments.

It said similar concerns have been raised by the Association of Ghana Industries, AGI, Ghana Union of Traders Association, GUTA, Food and Beverage Association of Ghana, and Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana.
