FDA cautions against advertising unregistered food service establishments on social media

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has cautioned operators of unregistered Food Service Establishments advertising on social media.

A notice posted on January 2, by the Authority on Facebook said the FDA through its surveillance activities, has noticed the advertisement of unregistered Food Service Establishments on social media.

It said operators of Food Services Establishments including contract caterers are reminded to regularize their activities with Food and Drugs Authority in accordance with Section 130 of the Public Health Act 2012, Act 851 which state that “A person shall not manufacture for sale, sell, supply or store products under this part except in premises registered for that purpose under this part.”

“All Food Service Establishments that fail to acquire the required regulatory permits by 1st January 2020 would be subjected to the requisite regulatory sanctions.”

The notice urged the public to report activities of Food Service Establishments that are likely to endanger public health.
