GC3B: The Accra Call signed

The Accra Call has duly been signed at the ongoing Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building in Accra on November 29,2023.

The two-day conference is poised to build Cyber resilience for development.

The Accra Call is an international action framework that allows governments and many other international organisations to affirm their willingness to voluntarily promote,pursue and coordinate efforts on sixteen specific actions to elevate cyber resilience across international and national development agenda.

The framework was signed by the Senior Presidential advisor of Ghana, Yaw Osafo Marfo on behalf of President Akufo-Addo.

In a speech, Mr. Osafo Marfo reiterated Ghana and the President’s strong support and efforts towards driving Ghana’s economy towards the digitalisation pathway.

He raised concerns on the threats that the cyber space presents to these striving progress being embarked on by the country.

He further expressed strong belief in the Accra Call Action to help drive resilient development especially for developing Countries across the world.

The Accra Call Framework consists of sixteen actions and divided into four categories; Strengthening the role of cyber resilience as an enabler for sustainable development, Advancing demand-driven, effective, and sustainable cyber capacity building, Fostering Stronger partnerships and better coordination and Unlocking financial resources,cooperation and implementation modalities.

The framework is subject to review every two years at next iterations of the Global Conference on Cyber Capacity Building which is led by the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise.

The Accra Call is endorsed by governments, development donors and partners, multilateral and bilateral financial institutions, international and regional organisations, the private sector, the technical community, civil society ,academia and the philanthropic institutions.
