Today, September 27 is being observed globally as World Tourism Day.

In Ghana, the day will be celebrated with a symposium and durbar at Abetifi in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.

There will also be other activities such as health walk, tours to tourism sites on the Kwahu Ridge and a paragliding festival at the Odweanoma Mountains.

In a message to commemorate the day, the Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso, Louis Owusu-Agyepong, underscored the importance of tourism to the economy and appealed to individuals as well as group investors to invest more in the tourism industry.

He noted that Ghana is endowed with a lot of tourism sites which need to be harnessed.

Mr Owusu-Agyepong said, the Municipal Assembly is in dialogue with some entrepreneurs to venture into projects to help attract more tourists and also create jobs for the youth to reduce the unemployment challenges facing the country.
