The Ghana Physician Assistants Association has urged its members not to renew their licenses for 2023 with the Medical and Dental Council, MDC. This According to the General Secretary of the Association, Peter Eyram Kuenyefu is to register its displeasure towards the unfair treatment melted out to its members by the regulator.

He said the MDC is in Court with the Association describing them as Non Medical Practitioners, hence, frustrating its members.

The General Secretary said since it started attaining the license some ten years ago, the MDC has not laid down any proper steps to retrain them to enhance their work but, has rather drafted a zero Scope of Practice documents for both Physician Assistants and Certified Registered Anesthetists without their knowledge and contributions.

Mr. Eyram Kuenyefu alleged that the MDC is also trying to alter the curriculum by removing vital medical course content which hitherto were offered.

The Association said despite its meetings with the Regulator, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health and Ministry of Health have not yielded any positive results hence its decision not to register next year.

He urged members to resist any form of intimidation form either their managers or supervisors until further directives from leadership and urged the public to blame the regulator and the MOH for any disruption in the health care delivery as a result of the non renewal.

Mr. Eyram Kuenyefu advised the MDC to open its doors for reproach since it is a public office and called on all its members to report any information to its Regional, National Executives and its taskforce.
