Gov’t allots Eastern Corridor road project to ten different contractors for speedy completion

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has re-awarded the contract of Peki-Have stretch of the Eastern Corridor Road to construction firm, First Sky Limited as part of moves to fix deplorable portions of the road in the Volta Region.

Government has so far allotted the entire Eastern Corridor Road Project to 10 different Contractors in a new Contract Agreement to ensure speedy completion of the project. President Akufo Addo disclosed this at Anfoega in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region, where he addressed the Chiefs and People of the area as part of his 1-day working visit to the Volta Region.

The slow pace of construction of the Eastern Corridor Road has been a major concern to most people in the Volta Region.

President Nana Akufo Addo’s working tour of the Volta Region saw him interacting with the Chiefs and People of some communities to have first-hand information about their plight.

In the Hohoe Municipality, he commissioned a Rural Technology and Solution Centre at Gbi Godenu to manufacture tools and train artisans. He also inspected progress of work at the new Hohoe Central Market Project and Fodome Campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).

The Chiefs of Gbi and Alavanyo appealed for development to alleviate a plethora of challenges, key among them is acute water supply and deplorable major road networks.

President Akufo Addo pledged to solve the challenges soon with lasting solutions.

At Anfoega in the North Dayi District, the Paramount Chief of the Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo appealed to the government for infrastructural development in the education sector and expansion of water supply systems in the area.

Togbe Tepre Hodo who is also the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs appealed for speedy completion of the Eastern Corridor Road to enhance economic activities in communities along the road.

President Akufo Addo outlined measures being put in place to mitigate the challenges of the people in the long term.

‘’For the issues put before me, these my Ministers are dealing with’’.

President Akufo Addo ended his working tour of the Volta Region at the University of Health and Allied Sciences where he cut the sod for the commencement of Phase 2 of the China Aid project at the University.
