The Civil Service Training Center has commended the invaluable support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in enhancing its capacity by positioning it as a benchmark across Africa. Due to this partnership, the center now provides both in-person and online training to both Private, Public and Civil Service Sectors.

The Principal of the Center, Dora Dei Tumi, expressed her appreciation during a media event highlighting the fruitful collaboration between JICA and the Center.

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), provides assistance to developing countries in areas such as technical and economic support, human resource and infrastructure development. In the last decade and a half, JICA has been collaborating with the Office of the Head of Civil Service and the Civil Service Training Centre to build the capacity of the Civil Servants and elevate the training Centre into an institution of excellence in the subregion.

Civil Service Training Centre has been building the capacity of lower and middle level personnel in the Civil and Public Services.

The Principal of the CSTC, Dora Dei-Tumi, described JICA as a strategic partner to the Centre. She expressed gratitude to JICA for the support over the years to help reposition the Centre for enhanced capacity training programmes.

“JICA had been the catalyst of CSTC’s phenomenal change, because JICA  identified us at the time when no one saw us, no one believed in us. JICA listened to our story and believed that with the positivity of attitude being demonstrated, there was that light, hope that needed to be energized. JICA believed in us and gave us that support. From a feeble Civil Service Training Center, that needed that kind of a push to be able to execute its function as expected, JICA held our hands and gave us the requisite support,” Mrs Dei-Tumi.

Chief Representative of JICA Ghana, Momoko Suzuki, said JICA believes in capacity development and will therefore continue to support the government of Ghana to build a robust economic growth.

“JICA has enjoyed very good relationships with CSTC in as far as our technical project and I’m  very proud to see this evolvement of CSTC. We believe that Ghana can support neighbouring countries. Japan has come to today’s stage not because we had natural resource. I mean, we didn’t have any natural resources and we don’t have even today, so we invested in human resources development, and having efficient and highly motivated civil service officers, it’s very important in having a stable state and also having a trust towards the government by its people . We will continue to partner with the government of Ghana to accelerate the development of its human resources in order to serve its people and achieve economic growth,” Madam Suzuki indicated.

JICA Expert/Consultant, Masashi Yamanaka, said the agency will continue to give more opportunities to people all over the world to build a better economy.
