The Editor-in-Chief of the Fourth Estate, Manasseh Azure Awuni has reiterated on the GTV Breakfast Show that, he does not feel safe as a Journalist, investigating the government and other duty bearers for accountability to the people who voted for them.

According to him, he has received a lot of death threats from documentaries he produced under President Akufo Addo’s Administration, compared to former President John Dramani Mahama’s Administration.

“I have done some of the most daring stories in the country. I did them under the Mahama’s Administration. The night after I published the Mahama’s false scandal, Dr. Omane Boamah called me in the night and said, we know the seriousness of this story. If you don’t feel safe, let’s send Police to protect you and I said well I am OK. And it was genuinely OK because the environment wasn’t this dangerous. I don’t feel that way now and that is the reality”, Manasseh disclosed.

The Investigative Journalist added that, he had to fly out of the country on two occasions under the Nana Addo Administration.
“I have had to go out of the country on two occasions”, he added.
Manasseh alleged that nothing was done when he reported the death threat to the Police.

“I’ve had to report death threat, the first time I reported the serious death threat was in 2017 and the Cyber Security Unit of the Ghana Police Service, I even met the then Director of CID Maame Tiwaa Addo Dankwah and then nothing happened. Then in 2020, I received a serious death threat, and I reported again. So, these and others which we cannot tell of course it isn’t every security matter I can talk on air, but that is the reality”, according to Manasseh Azure.
