Key suspect in NPP Takoradi chairman’s murder arrested

A key suspect in efforts at finding  the killers of New Patriotic Party, (NPP), Treasurer of the Takoradi Constituency, Mark Ofori, has been arrested.

The suspect, Anthony Mensah, was arrested on Sunday night by a patrol team of the Western Regional Police Command at Amanful arround 8:00pm following a tip-off.

He is believed to have supplied the guns that were used to commit the crime.

A highly-placed source close to Radio Ghana News in Sekondi said that Anthony Mensah, who is believed to be in his late thirties, attempted to flee when he saw the police patrol team.

He was found fetching water from his residence, the source narrated, but immediately removed his clothes in an attempt to escape arrest.

Police began investigations immediately after Mark Ofori was shot dead at his residence in Fijai in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis in the wee hours of Wednesday, October 30.

His laptop was taken away by the killers but other personal stuff were left untouched.

It followed a similar attack on the residence of the in-law of the Western Region Minister, Kwabena Otchere Darko-Mensah, resulting in the death of the security man at post.
