She said the assembly is working hard to fulfil its part of the Make Accra Clean Agenda and anyone caught flouting the rules will not be spared.

The assembly in the last month has been working to ensure that persons within its jurisdiction abide by the city’s by-laws. In line with this, the assembly deployed its taskforce at Zongo junction to ensure pedestrians use the footbridge.

Hawkers who sell on the pavements and drivers who use the shoulders of the road were not spared. The latest move by the assembly is to mount fences on the pavements to enhance the flora beautification at the area Municipal.

Chief Executive Mrs. Jennifer Adjabeng said the assembly will not rest until Zongo junction and Madina lankwantanang at large becomes clean. She said the task force on night patrols arrested persons who were caught flouting the sanitation by-laws.

Mrs. Adjabeng said officers stationed at Zongo junction are physically attacked by pedestrians who refuse to obey the new rules.

The beautification project is in collaboration with the department of parks and gardens with the taskforce stationed at vantage points to prevent hooligans and encroachers from getting access to the place.
