The Chief of Coaltar in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region, Barima Okekrebesi Asiedu, has noted that the community members have had enough of plying the deplorable roads in the district.

According to the Chief, major roads connecting the capital of the District Kraboa Coaltar to Nsawam, Suhum, and Adeiso have been in a deplorable state for many years now. He reiterated that the area has not seen any tarred roads for 40-plus years now.

It is as a result of this that Barima Asiedu called on the government to intervene and do the needful to alleviate the people from their situation.

Speaking to the media during the installation of six Chiefs in Kraboa Coaltar, the Chief urged the newly installed Chiefs to support the development of the people.

Barima Asiedu explained that they often have to alight and walk the rest of their journey due to the nature of their poor roads. He said politicians do not think about their communities; they only come to them when they need their votes and forget them after voting for them.

He added that all the roads in Ayensuano District and the Kraboa Coaltar area have become death traps and potholes, and there is a need for the government to fix the roads now. Barima Asiedu called on the government and District Chief Executive to fix their roads.

Some residents of Ayensuano indicated in an interview that pregnant women are dying as a result of the bad nature of the roads, businesses are collapsing, and farmers are running into losses while vehicle owners have to pay more for car maintenance due to the poor nature of the road networks.

The newly installed Chiefs are Nkosohemaa, Nana Yaa Asantewaa; Sanahene, Kofi Owusu; and the Osiahene, Kofi Larbi, among others.
