Governance Analyst, Fred Agyarko Oduro, has cautioned Ghanaians to lower their expectations of government as the ravaging impact of Covid-19 on the economy is a contributory factor to harsh living conditions being experienced by most people.

He said the rising cost of living is a global phenomenon and not peculiar to only Ghana.

Some Ghanaians since last week have been expressing their displeasure with government’s handling of the economy on social media with the #FixTheCountry hashtag.

The group cited ‘dumsor’, unemployment and poor healthcare systems as proof of successive governments’ mismanagement of the country.

They planned a demonstration on May 9, 2021, but their request for Police protection was rejected by an Accra High Court following a restraining order sought by the Police.

Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Thursday, May 6, responded to them saying the Party and for that matter government has shown commitment to improving the living conditions of Ghanaians since coming into power in 2017.

However, this does not sit well with Conveners of this campaign.

Speaking to GBC news in reaction to the ongoing brouhaha about #fixthecountry, Mr Agyarko Oduro asked Ghanaians to brace themselves up as these are not normal times.

Mr. Agyarko Oduro debunked the perception that the country is back to the days of culture of silence saying freedom of expression is not a license to insult.
