The Ministry of the Interior has declared Wednesday, March 6, 2024, as a national public holiday in observance of Ghana’s 67th Independence Day celebration.

The holiday marks Ghana’s 67th Independence Day anniversary.

In a statement, the Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, urged all citizens to observe the day, stating, “The general public is hereby informed that Wednesday, 6th March 2024, which marks Independence Day, is a Statutory Public Holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.”

Independence Day holds great importance for Ghanaians, symbolising the sacrifices made for freedom and sovereignty by the country’s forefathers.

Citizens participate in various celebratory events, such as flag-raising ceremonies, cultural performances, and national and district parades, to foster patriotism and unity.

This year’s national anniversary celebration will be held at the Youth Resource Centre in Koforidua, Eastern Region.

  1. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency William Nana Addo Dankwa AKUFFO-ADDO, Current President of the Republic of Ghana, Speaker & All members of Parliament, the Judiciary, members and citizenry of our homeland, Ghana, on the occasion of our upcoming 67th Independence Anniversary for continuing fortitude and diligence at defending the heritage won for us through the toil and sacrifices of our forefathers.

Looking back to our collective national history, the challenges, the achievements, the mitigants that have limited our desired pace of national development BUT even more so, the promise our Motherland still holds at leading and boosting local, regional, national, sub-regional, and continental prowess in collaboration with our fellow Africans both in mainland Africa and the diaspora as well as our key developmental partners, I am writing in advance of the planned national holiday in observance of Our Independence Day Celebrations marked for this Wednesday, the 6th of March 2024, to highlight some areas we as a people may focus on in the coming days and years for our common good, If Our Lord Jesus Christ tarries at His promised 2nd Coming, that we may also teach the same to our children for continuity and betterment of our national agenda.

    [A] ________LEADERSHIP MATTERS________________

    (1) Shall we start and/or aim to continue to engage with key players across the politico-economic and the socio-cultural landscape to help facilitate and to determine what the people under agreed leadership shall critically decide are in the best interest of all especially the upcoming children and the generations yet unborn.

A question to ask at least is why do we do what we do, why those choices, BUT more importantly to what end?
Are our agreed choices still fit for purpose today? What are we willing to change to help address the said challenges that we do identify?

Roles and Responsibilities: Driving a desired change can only start and achieve measurable increments with each and every one of us, Ghanaians (at home and abroad).

What is the current and future administrations willing to change to truly encourage Ghanaians living everywhere on the vast planet (Earth) to meaningfully contribute to our national agreed goals?
For example, in areas of the micro-economy, exercising our franchises, and where necessary extend services available to Ghanaian in such places as well (as is the reasonable to do) whilst we aim to encourage trade and tourism, for governments and people of those host countries.

[B]______ATTITUDINAL CHANGE AS A WAY OF DRIVING A PARADIGM SHIFT IN THE STATUS QUO_______

**** Without much ado, I will ask that we all own or attempt to own government property and all shared amenities provided by the Government and seek to maintain these and responsibly so because these will help with our national narrative and desired outcomes for all.*******

[C] GHANA, ECOWAS, THE AFRICAN UNION, THE DIAPOREAN BRETHREN, & THE INT’L COMM. AT LARGE._

    What progresses have we made?
    What remains unsolved?
How have we done the above till now and what are we willing or able to do differently in order to arrive at a better outcome?
