Melcom Group supports Rebecca Foundation with food items

Melcom Care Foundation has presented about three hundred (300) cartons of Banetti Instant Noodles and Tom Cakes to The Rebecca Foundation.

The donation was done at the office of the Foundation in Accra, on March 17, 2021 for the purpose of extending a philanthropic hand to the needy and the poor in society.

Presenting the items, the Director of Communications, Godwin Avenorgbo, at a short ceremony said, “today’s donation is meant for distribution to children, the needy, and how the foundation decides to handle the items.”

He mentioned the fact that the donation was also a means of showing their appreciation to the first lady for doing a very good job in her outreach programmes all these years.

“The exercise was also to reinforce the relationship between the Melcom Group of Companies and the Rebecca Foundation.”

The spokesperson for the Foundation, Sheela Sakyi Oppong, who led a team to receive the goods expressed their gratitude to the Melcom Group of Companies for their kind gesture as she recognizes the long-standing friendship between them and Melcom.

She stated that the items will be donated to needy children, families in orphanages and schools in accordance with the mission and vision of The First Lady.

Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana is the Executive Director of the Rebecca Foundation. The foundation works in partnership with governmental agencies, the private sector, development partners, civil society and non-profit organizations in the execution of its initiatives.

Since its inception in 2017, the foundation has spearheaded the construction of a new mother and baby unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi, assisted the schools for special needs children in Akwapim, supported various children from across the country to undergo urgent medical interventions and has also resourced many orphanages in the country.

The foundation has funded the construction of a community bridge in Zenu – a low income highly populated community in the Greater Accra Region, and the renovation of a community clinic in Abamkrom in the Central Region. Additionally, The Rebecca Foundation has trained about 200 women in the Eastern and Northern regions of Ghana in bead making, batik making and entrepreneurship. The foundation is also helping to improve learning outcomes for Ghanaian children.
