The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama, has refuted claims that projects inherited by the Ministry have been abandoned.

Madam Alima who rated her Ministry as having achieved 90 percent of its responsibility said suggestions that most projects under the 2016 manifestoes have not been executed are false.

Speaking at the ‘Meet-The-Press’ series in Accra, Hajia Alima said 23 uncompleted office accommodations under the previous Government have been completed, with 72 new ones under construction out of which four are completed and ready for use.

She said the need for office accommodation has become necessary with the creation of about 44 new Assemblies.

Hajia Alima said the Ministry through its Alternative Livelihood Programme has supported people who were engaged in illegal mining otherwise known as ‘Galamsey’.
