Ministry of Arts and Culture reviews policy to generate funding

A representative of the Ministry of Arts and Culture Mr. John Yaw Agbeko has outlined some initiatives by the Ministry to celebrate Heritage month this year. According to him the Ministry is undertaking activities to ensure that the cultural heritage of the country is preserved.

These initiatives, he said, include the Cultural Policy Review.

Mr. Agbeko made the point while he launched the 2022 State Broadcaster, GBC’s Heritage Month in Accra.

He said the policy document required a review in order to accommodate modern development trends as a result of our constant interaction with other cultures, digital revolution and evolution of the creative arts and its impact on emerging economies”.

He further added that the Ministry is working closely with the Attorney General’s working closely with the Attorney General’s Department, UNESCO Ghana and other stakeholders to finalize the cultural heritage development fund deal as well as produce a strategic framework for arts and culture in the country.

”The deal, when passed, will allow others to provide the necessary funding for cultural activities in the country”, he said.
