MoFA to support farmers affected by spillage of dams with $40 million

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, MOFA, will support farmers affected by the Akosombo and Kpong Dam spillage with $40 million. This will help farmers whose farms and livelihoods are completely destroyed due to the spillage.

The sector Minister, Bryan Acheampong announced this at the Presidential Conference on Youth and Aquaculture in Accra.

The Minister of Food and Agriculture ( MOFA), Dr Bryan Acheampong, who announced this said, the restructured programme is “to fully restore friends, brothers and families on the Volta and Eastern stretch of the Akosombo dam’s path whose farms have been wiped out due to the necessary action taken by the Volta River Authority (VRA) to save us all.”

He said the Phase two of the Planting for Food and Jobs will be a game changer in the quest to transform Ghana’s Agriculture.

This will also position Ghana to become very competitive and leverage, the opportunities presented by the regional initiative, the Africa Continental Free Trade programme.
