The non-adherence to wearing of nose masks especially has been cited as being responsible for the high number of new Covid-19 cases recorded lately.

Persons refusing to wear nose masks have reduced to as low as five percent. Since the 10th of October to date, Ghana’s active cases have doubled from 398 to 1,139 today.

Government said this is a major source of worry.

At a media briefing in Accra, Director- General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye, said the rise in Covid-19 cases is predominantly in the Greater Accra Region and asked that protocols are adhered to avoid a possible second wave.

Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye said one place that has seen positive cases being recorded is the Kotoka International Airport.

Since September when the Airport was opened, a total of 53,659 cases have been recorded with 178 positive cases.

This morning, 34 positive cases was recorded at the Airport.

Government says this goes to attest to the fact the PCR test introduced is working accurately. Dr Kumah Aboagye explained that if the PCR test were not to be deployed, one can imagine the number of cases that would have entered the country undetected.
