The National Service Secretariat (NSS), has defended its decision to designate the Old Voters’ ID Card, Passport, Driver’s License, or SSNIT Cards as the required National IDs to register for this year’s National Service.

This follows concerns by some prospective NSS Personnel who complained of not having any of the ID required.

They argued that the Old Voter ID for example was issued as far back as 2012 when present Fourth Year University Students were in Primary Schools and could not have acquired any.

The new Voter ID which most Students possessed is not included in the list of acceptable Identity Cards.

Director of Corporate Affairs at NSS, Armstrong Esaah, said the Final Year Students were informed on numerous occasions that the SSNIT card will be a requirement for the Online Registration.

He said the required National IDs have strong security features, hence the decision to use them.
