Some nurses in the Northern Region have picketed in Tamale to drum home their displeasure about the delay by the government in posting them.

The unemployed nurses made up of Nurse Assistant Clinicals and Nurse Assistant Preventives who completed their training in 2019, took to the streets to present their petition to the Northern Regional Minister in his office.

According to them, they have been waiting for the government for three years to post them, but the silence of the government suggests otherwise.

The Vice President of the Northern Zone, Mengmi Francis, said the Association has had several engagements with relevant authorities but nothing is forthcoming.

They said life is unbearable without work and the economic hardship is worsening their plight.

In an interview with GBC News, they appealed to the government to end their suffering by giving them work so they can take care of themselves and their families.

The Northern Regional Coordinating Director, Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku, who received the petition, gave them assurance that it would be forwarded to the right offices for the necessary action to be taken.
