Pressure Group, Occupy Ghana, is calling for an independent probe into allegations of assault on Citi FM and Television Journalist, Caleb Kudah.

The group said it doubts the ability of the Ministry of National Security to conduct a proper and impartial investigation adding that the only means to have a holistic probe into the circumstances surrounding the assault is for Government to institute an independent Commission of Inquiry.

Speaking to GBC News, a Founding Member of Occupy Ghana, Syndey Casely Hayford condemned the operatives for poorly handling the case.

He said the National Security Ministry must provide answers to ascertain the justification for their assault on the journalist and the subsequent raid on the Citi FM/Citi TV premises to arrest another journalist, Zoe Abu-Baidoo.

A Human Rights Lawyer, Martin Kpebu has supported calls for an independent probe into the alleged assault on Citi FM journalists.

Speaking to GBC NEWS on the issues and matters arising from the high-handedness meted out to the Journalists by National Security Operatives, Mr. Kpebu said the Citi Fm journalists whose rights were violated have a number of legal options available, which includes taking the matter to Court.

Meanwhile, Security Analyst Adam Bonaa has questioned the mandate of the National Security.

This is because their conduct in the Citifm saga and other instances have been unprofessional.

According to him, the Journalist in question did not err in taking pictures and videos at the National Security.
