Personnel from Operation vanguard, have apprehended some 50 suspected illegal miners in the Western and Eastern regions, in separate operations conducted over the past week.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of Operation Vanguard, Captain Andy Sowatey, said the personnel in the Western Region apprehended 16 suspected Chinese illegal miners in the area of Enchi Kwahu in the Aowin District, together with five excavators that were been used in their operations.
It said the 34 other suspected illegal miners were also arrested in the East Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region.
Operation Vanguard, is therefore calling on chiefs and people of the various mining communities, to help flash out, unlicensed operators and their collaborators.
