Erratic power affect morgue services -Oti Regional Health Director

The Oti Regional Director of Health Service, Dr. Osei Kuffour Affreh is worried about the unstable power supply in the Oti Region.

According to Dr. Osei Kuffour Affreh, the situation ”is not only affecting our homes and businesses but also affecting the bodies in some mortuaries in the Oti Region”.

Speaking to Journalists, Dr. Osei Kuffour Affreh said, given the situation, the Krachi West Municipal Morgue poses a health risk to residents and the entire community members.

As a path towards resolution to the issues, Management of the Krachi government hospital has petitioned Nana Mprah Besamuna lll, Krachi Wura and President of the Oti Regional House of Chiefs, Patrick Kwaku Bulator, Municipal Chief Executive and the Regional Health Directorate over the development.
Krachi West Municipal hospital is the only Municipal hospital operating in the Oti Region with Morgue for storing bodies.

He explained that the hospital is now compelled to ration power because it was covering authorities more to keep the generator on.

Dr. Osei Kuffour Affreh lamented the effect of the power outage in Krachi west, which is negatively affecting the quality of Health services rendered in the Municipality.

He told the Media that the Municipality with low outage spend more than Ghc60,000.00 every week to provide emergency and theater services, admissions, keeping blood, vaccines and keeping refrigerators running.

The Regional Director lamented that because of the power outage, most of the equipment and machines in the hospital have been damaged and called on the authorities to address the power situation to avoid further decline of the situation
