Two players crashed to death by alleged National Security vehicle

Two players from the Volta Regional Football Association’s (VRFA) Division Two clubs, Yadzo Oti Warriors and Likpe Heroes FC, lost their lives in a gruesome motor accident on the Kadjebi road on Christmas Day.

Reports say the two players, Agblar Peter of Likpe Heroes FC and Alorwu Paul of Yadzo Oti Warriors, were knocked down on a motorbike by a National Security pickup vehicle allegedly on top speed chasing a suspected smuggling truck carrying Cocoa.

Eyewitnesses say the incident occurred between Kotonkwanta and Yadzo Junction in the Kadjebi District of the Oti region.

Irate youth of the community have since been demonstrating against the security personnel’s carelessness in overtaking and hitting the two players to death.  

The accident was so horrible that it cut parts of their bodies, especially the legs, leaving them lying on the road.

Upon hearing the news of the two footballers’ deaths, the football fraternity in the region is in a state of shock and agony to hear another accident involving players.

Last month, Yekini Kumah, a player for former Division One side Roberto FC in Sokpoe, also lost his life in a road accident. 

Making the number of players engulfed in road casualties three (3) ahead of the start of a new season in January. 

Messages of condolence have since been flooding the football platforms of stakeholders.

Agbla Peter and Alorwu Paul were very close friends.
