The Ghana Police Service says it is poised to provide all the necessary security for the safety of the planned demonstration by the youth of the National Democratic Congress on Friday July 6.

A statement by the Police said the Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh held a meeting with the organizers at the Police Headquarters in Accra yesterday and all matters relating to the march were discussed and agreed, upon including the routes and COVID-19 protocols.

The police had earlier declined an invitation to provide security for the demonstrators on the basis that COVID-19 restrictions were still imposed. But the NDC insisted on embarking on the protest, rubbishing the reasons for denying their request.

The police, according to the Youth Organizer of the NDC, George Opare Addo however rescinded their earlier decision after a crunch meeting between the two parties.
