Police and Military deployed to Dompim-Pepesa in Tarkwa Nsuaem following chieftaincy dispute

There is a heavy military presence at Dompim-Pepesa, a farming Community in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region, following unrest sparked by a Chieftaincy dispute there.

This is as a result of a factional group in the area objecting to the legality of the enstoolment of Ohyewora Bian, two years ago as Chief of the area.

The incident resulted in the razing down of the Chief’s palace by unknown assailants which has left residents in a state of fear and panic.

Speaking in an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana in Sekondi, the Western Region Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olivia Adiku explained that the Police presence is to enforce law and order and not to meddle in the chieftaincy issue as is being speculated.

DSP Olivia Adiku added that Police presence will be maintained in the area as long as necessary.
