President Akufo-Addo joins mourners to bid Daasebre Oti Boateng farewell

The Memorial Service of the late Omanhene of the New Juaben traditional area Daasebre Emeritus Oti Boateng and the Queen mother Nana Yaa Daani has been held at the forecourt of the New Juaben Traditional Area at Srodae in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital.

The memorial service was organised by the local Council of Churches in collaboration with the New Juaben Traditional Area.

The Memorial Service brought together the members of the Local Council of Churches, Heads of religious leaders, members from the Muslim Community, traditional authority as well as the public.

The funeral commenced Friday, May 13, 2022, with all the necessary rites being performed amid the display of rich Ghanaian culture and the traditions associated with the burial of the late Omanhene and the queen mother.

The late Daasebre Oti Boateng, who died in August 2021 aged 83, ascended the New Juaben Stool in 1992, succeeding his elderly brother, the late Daasebre Nana Kwaku Boateng.

The late Queen mother also contributed immensely to the development of women and women empowerment in the New Juaben traditional area.

In an interview with GBC News the Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Emmanuel Asante noted that death is inevitable and stressed the need for all to leave a legacy to be remembered for.

The Bishop of the House of Prayer International in Koforidua Bishop Dr Samuel Yaw Adu Observed that the late Daasebre and the Queen Mother did their part especially in the areas of education and women empowerment he said Daasebre was a man who believed in education while the queen mother also taught the women to be empowered.

Chairman of the Coalition of Northern Tribal Chiefs, Alhaji Sumaila Mahama said the Chief lived peacefully with them and helped them in diverse ways.

He said it is therefore important to celebrate Daasebre and the Queen Mother for the entire world to know their contribution to the lives of the people of New Juaben and to the world at large.
