President Akufo-Addo tasks Ghana Armed Forces to ensure peaceful conduct of 2024 Elections

President Akufo-Addo has charged the Ghana armed forces to ensure that the 2024 elections are held in a peaceful and serene atmosphere.

He stressed Ghana’s enviable position as a beacon of democracy and stability and urged the Officers to uphold and protect this status.
He gave the charge at the end of year West African Soldier Social Activities (Wassa) organised by the Ghana Armed Forces.

The annual WASA allowed the leadership and men of the Ghana Armed Forces to fraternize and socialize, reflect on their performance in the past year, and to take stock of how best they can improve on their performance in the coming year.

It presented the President, who is the Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, the opportunity to thank the men in uniform for protecting the territorial integrity of the nation.

President Akufo-Addo expressed the appreciation of the nation to the military towards ensuring peace and security both internally and externally.

He lauded the Officers for their commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders, especially in the wake of recent coup d’états and insurgencies in the West African region.

The President also reiterated his administration’s commitment to consistently retooling the Ghana Armed Forces.

Addressing the recent disputes between the Ghana Armed Forces and certain traditional authorities regarding land conflicts, President Akufo-Addo assured the Officers of an imminent resolution to this issue.

With only a year left until the 2024 elections, the Commander-in-Chief urged the Officers to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

The Minister of Defense, Dominic Nitiwul said the accommodation and other logistical challenges confronting the the Armed Forces persist despite various government interventions. He assured the Armed forces that the government will do more to mitigate their concerns.
