Foreign-owned shops at Circle in Accra will be closed Thursday, August 13, due to the failure of some operators to adhere to the directives on Retail Trade.

The exercise will be conducted by the Presidential Committee on Retail Trade under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

This, according to the Committee, follows notices served to foreigners engaged in retail trade without Business Operating Documents.

Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Prince Boakye-Boateng, appealed to foreigners without Business Operating Documents at other markets to comply with the directives on retail trade.

There has been a trade war between Ghanaian traders and their foreign counterparts, especially Nigerian traders over the involvement of non-Ghanaians in retail business in our markets.
