The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta has inspected ongoing works on the Nkurakan-Adukrom-Trom road in the Okere District of the Eastern Region. He was delighted with the progress of work so far and commended the Contractor General Constructions Limited for a good job done. The road, which is thirty-six point one kilometers long, is about 63% complete. Mr. Amoako-Atta said, it is expected to present alternate routes to drivers who use the N2 and N6, since the network linking those roads will be opened up.

He also inspected work on the Construction of a bridge linking the road between Akuse and Somanya in the Yilo Krobo Municipality. The Roads Minister disclosed that, on completion, the project will be of direct benefit to residents.

He added that successes chalked up in the first phase of the Year of Roads prompted the government to extend it to subsequent years in spite of challenges encountered as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr. Amoako Atta urged citizens of Communities whose roads have not been constructed to exercise patience as they await their turn.

While commending General Construction Limited for working ahead of time, the Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Highways Authority, Patrick Okoto also gave details on the expected completion date of the project and other information in the contract.

For his part, the Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Dan Kwaku Botwe said, his Constituency, Okere, has benefitted immensely in the road sector from the Akufo Addo led government. He was optimistic that the construction of the road will help prevent armed robbery, which was rampant on that stretch.

The Minister and his team also paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Awukugua, Osabarima Opese Konadu at his Palace at Adukrom.
