The Ashanti Regional Statistician, Dr. Ansah Abeka, has expressed concern about foreign nationals in the region particularly, Chinese who are refusing to be enumerated.

He points out the case of Chinese nationals residing at Nhyiaeso, a suburb of Kumasi, who deliberately refused to give audience to Census Officials who called on them at their residences to be enumerated.

The Ashanti Regional Statistician disclosed this to Journalists in Kumasi after Census Officials enumerated the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Osei Assibey Antwi on Wednesday, July 7.

According to the Regional Statistician, about 70 percent of people in Ashanti have been enumerated so far and has therefore appealed to those who have not been enumerated to avail themselves of the exercise as Sunday the 11th of this month would be the official scheduled to end the census.

Dr. Abeka Ansah reminded foreign Nationals in the region of their obligations towards the census by availing themselves to be enumerated.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Osei Assibey-Antwi, warned the recalcitrant residents that they will not be spared if they refused to be enumerated.
