Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, as part of its support for agriculture, has presented a double-cabin Nissan pick-up to the 2018 Second Runner up National Best Farmer at this year’s National Farmers’ Day held in Tamale on Friday.
Mr Alex Frempong Tenkorang, who was adjudged the 2018 Second Runner up National Best Farmer, is a 60-year old Farmer from Afram Plains and cultivates sorghum, soybeans, mangoes, watermelons and yams. He also has cattle, piggery, poultry and fish.
Mr Alhassan Andani, Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, said the presentation of the vehicle to the award winner showed the Bank’s appreciation to farmers for their contribution to national development.
Mr Andani assured of the Bank’s commitment to not only providing financing for the agricultural industry, but also doing everything possible to support the growth of the sector, “So that Ghana can be self-sufficient”.
He called for the establishment of shea processing factories in the northern part of the country to add value to shea to earn foreign exchange.
Mr Frempong Tenkorang said the award was an encouragement for him to do more to increase agricultural production.
