The Lands Commission says the timber market at Aboabo Market in Tamale has not been sold to any person or group of persons as purported by some individuals.

The Commission said it is untrue that those engaged in business activities have been asked to leave the area.

This comes in a wake of recent reports that the MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu is asking government to reverse the sale of the timber market in Tamale. It was also alleged that the said land is the property of the Forestry Commission which has been offered for sale to private developers while operatives of the Timber market have been given notice to vacate the place.

At a news conference in Tamale, the Northern Regional Surveyor of the Lands Commission, Benjamin Jojoe Adu-Hanson, said the timber market is not the property of the Forestry Commission and records held at the Lands Commission do not reflect that.
